Air curtain for cold storage and freezer rooms
The Teddington Friguvent is an air curtain designed specifically for doors in cold storage and freezer rooms. When the door is open, a stable, precisely directed air stream reduces the exchange between cold indoor air and warmer outside air. This helps to reduce cooling losses as well as the formation of ice, condensation and mist around the doorway.
The patented CONVERGO® pressure chamber nozzle system provides precise airflow control even where there are large temperature differences between the two areas. Depending on the power level, the Friguvent is suitable for recommended installation heights of up to 3.50 m at temperature differences of up to 40 K.
Reducing the ingress of warmer, moisture-laden air can also reduce the load on the refrigeration system and the need for defrosting.
Reduced ice and mist formation can help to improve visibility and reduce slippery conditions around the doorway. Where the air curtain replaces conventional strip curtains, it can also provide a clearer view through the doorway. Together, these factors can help to reduce the risk of accidents in frequently used cold storage and freezer room entrances.
Different installation arrangements allow the air curtain to be positioned either inside or in front of the cold storage or freezer room and adapted to the respective temperature and doorway situation.

The aerodynamically shaped air intake grille is made from slotted sheet metal and provides a clean, functional appearance.
The nozzle can be adjusted in defined increments, allowing the air discharge angle to be set precisely.
The discharge opening of the patented CONVERGO® nozzle extends almost continuously across the entire length of the unit. When several units are installed side by side, this allows a largely continuous discharge area to be created across the doorway.
The large nozzle sidewalls help to guide the airflow through the discharge opening. An additional flow profile divides the airflow into a primary and secondary air stream. The higher discharge velocity of the primary air stream increases the penetration depth of the airflow.
Installation options for different cold storage situations
Installation in front of the cold storage or freezer room – air intake from the cold storage or freezer room
Drawing in a proportion of cold air from the freezer room creates a mixed air temperature that can reduce the risk of ice forming on the floor.
Installation in front of the cold storage or freezer room – air intake from the warmer adjacent area
Drawing in warmer air from the adjacent area can reduce mist formation when the door is open.
Installation inside the cold storage or freezer room
(room temperature above –20 °C)
The air discharge is directed slightly towards the cold side of the doorway, helping to reduce condensation on the ceiling and the loss of cold air.

Wide range of accessories
A wide range of accessories is available for our air curtains – from contact switches and thermostats to temperature sensors and practical mounting accessories. This allows the units to be adapted to different requirements and installation situations.
Comfort ceiling bracket
The comfort ceiling bracket enables stable multi-point mounting of the air curtain and reduces vibrations and noise.
Door contact
The door contact is connected to the air curtain control system and enables automatic operation: when the door opens, the air curtain is switched on; when the door closes, it is switched off automatically.

Teddington industrial air curtains are powder-coated to a high standard and supplied in RAL 7011 Iron Grey as standard. Six additional colours are available for a small surcharge, with custom colours available on request.
